RV Express was not on my radar as a place to stay but following an accident and a need for a new mirror, I knew I would have to drive to the nearest larger town from where I was. I chose Springfield, Missouri. It was a holiday weekend so RV Express was the only park nearby that wasn’t booked. In the long run, I’m glad the way it worked out because some of the other parks like KOA would have required me to drive into Springfield. RV Express is a small park nestled between Highway 44 and the Holiday Inn Express.
I ended up staying 4 nights before moving to another RV Park. I probably would have stayed here until my repairs were done because the other RV Park is more expensive but I felt like it might be better for the animals to be farther off the road after 4 days here. My only negative is that there is constant highway noise with large trucks, motorcycles, ambulances, and the like day and night. However, I saw a lot of people checking in and checking out while I was here and one couple said they stop here every year because it’s convenient for the people they’re visiting.
The things I really liked are the spacious concrete pads, no gravel anywhere, every site has grass, a bbq, and a picnic table and of course, they’re all full hook-up. There are pull-thrus and back-ins. If you are a Good Sam member, it’s only $30 a night, regularly $34, $500 monthly. The other parks in Springfield seem to range from $39 to $50. One thing I found unusual but it makes a lot of sense is that, while they do answer the phone all day, the office is open from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. every day. But the very clean laundry room and showers/bathrooms are open 24/7. You do need a pass code for the building after 9:30 p.m.
There was plenty of green space for me to walk my dogs with a doggie bag dispenser by the trash cans. Across the street was a home and farm store so I walked over there a few times with my dogs, which they enjoyed. Just adjacent to the RV park are three fast food restaurants, Ribcrib, KFC, and a Mexican food eatery, and within very short driving distance are many more restaurant choices.
I found the staff to be quite personable and accommodating. The park was very clean and quiet other than the traffic noise so this would definitely be a convenient place to stop if you find yourself traveling between St. Louis and Oklahoma.
